The relationship between dietary fat composition and plasma cholesterol esterification
نویسندگان
چکیده
1. Cholesterol esterscation has been studied in the plasma of subjects on diets rich in saturated or polyunsaturated fat. 2. The diet rich in polyunsaturated fat was associated with lower rates of plasma cholesterol esterification in vitro. The data suggest that there was a reduction of plasma lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase activity as well as decreased ability of the lipoprotein substrates of the enzyme to support esterification. 3. On this diet, there was no change in the proportion of the plasma cholesterol esterified but the plasma cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations were reduced.

Chronic dietary fat and cholesterol inhibit the normal postprandial stimulation of plasma cholesterol metabolism.
The response of parameters of plasma cholesterol metabolism was studied in baboons adapted either to a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet or a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet. Animals adapted to the low-fat diet responded to a single low-fat or high-fat meal, as do normal humans, by a stimulation of cholesterol transport from blood cells to plasma, a stimulation of esterification of cholesterol, and...
متن کاملRelationship of Dietary Fat Sources with Semen Characteristics, Blood Plasma Metabolites and Scrotal Circumference in Mature Rams
The hypothesis of this experiment was that the various sources of dietary fat with different dietary ratios of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) to saturated fatty acids (SFAs) would alter the reproduction parameters of mature rams. Twelve mature rams were randomly allotted to one of four dietary treatments in a completely randomized design. Dietary treatments were: 1) ration with 4% soybean ...
متن کاملDetermining the Relationship Between the Transtheoretical Model Constructs and Dietary Fat intake in Obese or Overweight Middle-aged Women
Background and Objectives: Transtheoretical model is one of the most widely used models of behavior changes that helps identify health behaviors. Dietary fat intake is an important behavior in a human health. The objective of this study was to determining the relationship between the transtheoretical model constructs and dietary fat intake in obese or overweight middle-aged women living in Shaz...
متن کاملRegulation of hepatic LDL metabolism in the guinea pig by dietary fat and cholesterol.
Studies were carried out to determine the independent and interactive effects of dietary fat and cholesterol on the regulation of hepatic apoB/E receptor expression and its relationship to hepatic cholesterol concentrations and low density lipoprotein (LDL) particle characteristics. Guinea pigs were fed 15% (w/w) fat diets (lard, olive oil, or corn oil) with cholesterol levels corresponding to ...
متن کاملEffects of postprandial lipemia on plasma cholesterol metabolism.
Cholesterol net transport, esterification, and cholesteryl ester transfer have been determined in plasma during fasting, and postprandially, after a high fat-cholesterol meal. Significant rises in plasma triglyceride, phospholipid, and free cholesterol were associated with increases in cholesterol net transport, esterification, and transfer (all P less than 0.005), which were well correlated in...
